Vitamin D Drops.  It is recommended that babies receive 400 units of Vitamin D each day.  We have recently acquired Baby D Drops in the office.  This product provides your baby with the daily requirement in a single drop.  For nursing Moms, you can simply place a drop on the nipple and your baby will ingest this important vitamin by simply sucklng as usual.  For babies eating solids, you can place a drop on the food.  You can get a 3 year supply of Baby D drops for $10.00 in the office.  Please ask for more information when you are in for your well baby check.

Goings and Comings.  Over the past few months, there have been several changes in our Penfield Pediatrics family:

  • In October, Crystal Borrelli left our practice.  Upon her departure, we welcomed Heather Dailor and Marietta Cutrone.  Both Heather and Marietta are outstanding Pediatric Nurse Practitioners who bring years of primary care experience to Penfield Pediatrics.  Their excitement and enthusiasm are wonderful additions to our practice.  Please check out their web pages for more information.
  • In December we said goodbye to Dr. Tomek who left us to pursue specialty training in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine at Strong Memorial Hospital.  We have truly enjoyed working with Dr. Tomek and wish him well in his new career.  With the start of the new year, we welcomed Dr. Deborah Abell to our practice.  Dr. Abell is an accomplished pediatrician with 10 years of primary care experience.  She  is very excited to be be a part of the Penfield Pediatrics team and we are thrilled to have her.   Please check out her web page for more professional information.

H1N1 Flu Vaccine Update.  As you may have heard on the news, the H1N1 flu vaccine will become available by the end of October.  In the interest of offering this vaccine in a speedy, efficient, and safe manner, the Monroe County Health Department will be providing numerous clinics around the area.  These clinics will offer preservative-free H1N1 vaccine for children 6 months of age and up.  We encourage our patients to check the health department website at: www.monroecounty.gov and click on the H1N1 icon for locations and times of H1N1 flu clinics.  If we should acquire limited supplies of vaccine we will notify you.

Seasonal Flu Vaccine.   We strongly support the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics, that everyone from 6 months to 20 years of age should receive a seasonal flu vaccination.  We have been actively administering all available vaccine.  However, as of November 6, our expected shipment of seasonal flu vaccine has been delayed until later in the month.  We ask that you please call at that time to inquire about our supply status.  Thank you for your patience as we manage this unusual flu season.

Exciting Office Changes.  Over the next 6 months, you will start to notice significant technological advances in our office.  We will soon begin to implement an electronic medical record system.  In accordance with state and federal guidelines, this system will hopefully make your children's medical information more easily recorded, accessed, and communicated.  We ask for your patience and feedback as we embark on this big endeavor.  We will continue to keep you updated as changes unfold.

Welcome to Our New Website.  While still under construction, we are trying to make this an attractive,  more user-friendly,  and fun way to seek the information you need.  Each of our Penfield Pediatrics providers has their own webpage which you can access with a simple click of your mouse.  We  will use these pages to provide you with information about ourselves as well as post relevant patient care links.  Please feel free to contact us with any feedback and requests.

Camp and Sports Forms. If you are requesting forms for your children, please allow us 48 hours to complete these.
